Rice University Authors, Editors, Composers and Artists of works published in 2018

Wednesday, January 30, 2019, 5:30 p.m.

Farnsworth Pavilion, Ley Student Center


The Friends of Fondren Library will host its annual event honoring Rice faculty, staff, alumni and members of the Friends of Fondren Library who have:
*Authored a book or edited a journal published in 2018
*Composed a major musical work in 2018
*Mounted a one-person art show in 2018

Peter (Carl) Caldwell, the Samuel G. McCann Professor of History and Friends of Fondren Library board member and Kristin Necessary Brookhart '01, Friends of Fondren Library board member, look forward to hosting this event to recognize all 2018 honorees. A reception will follow the program.

Humanity and Biological Change:

Conceptualizing the Natural World, The Biology of Learning, Altering the Living World

Professor John H. Zammito, Baker College Chair for History of Science, Technology and Innovation, and author of The Gestation of German Biology

Dr. Joshua Eyler, Director, Center for Teaching Excellence, Adjunct Associate Professor of Humanities and author of How Humans Learn

Dr. Lina Dib, Research Fellow, Center for Energy and Environmental Research in the Humanities, Lecturer, Program in Writing and Communication, and creator of “Like There is No Tomorrow” art installation in Houston and “Threshold” art installation at the Galveston Art Center
